Hotel prices up 10pc

HOTELS in Dublin are going some way to recover occupancy rates, with a 10pc increase in visitor numbers.

However, prices are still a long way from the heights they reached during boom times.

Occupancy rates are up 9.9pc to 68.8pc, while the average daily rate charged has increased by 5.4pc to €81.32, according to a report from STR Global, released by Deloitte.

Last year, rates fell by 12pc when compared with 2009.

Revenue per available room (RevPAR) has increased by 15.8pc, but hotels have been told there is no room for complacency.

"While it is unlikely that RevPAR will reach these 2007 levels in the foreseeable future, hoteliers are now beginning to claw back some of their losses," said Deloitte's Kevin Sheehan.
