Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby.
Breast milk is tailored to meet your baby’s needs, providing antibodies, growth factors, enzymes and hormones. There are benefits for the mother too, reducing the risk of ovarian and breast cancer and weaker bones later in life.
Breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt. In the early days, letting your baby come to the breast as often as possible will ensure a good milk supply.
Mothers don’t have to ask to breastfeed. You can breastfeed anywhere you or your child want or need to.
Try to wear a comfortable maternity bra that can be opened at the front with one hand.
