Week 12 David Gillick Recipe of the Week: Turkey Burgers & Sweet Potato Wedges



(Serves 4)

500g lean minced turkey 1 small onion, diced

1 teaspoon of chilli powder or chilli flakes

1 tablespoon of chilli flavoured seeds

1 egg

10ml of Worcestershire sauce

4 sweet potatoes cut into wedges 10g of mixed seeds, chopped

10ml of olive oil 1 tablespoon of paprika powder


1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Chop the sweet potatoes into wedges (no need to peel), place on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil.

2. Season with salt and pepper and add a light coating of paprika powder and chilli powder, depending on your preference for spicy food. Toss well, so that all the wedges are coated with oil and seasoning. Cook for 30-40 minutes, turning them every 15 minutes or so.

3. In a bowl, combine the diced onion with turkey mince, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, chilli seeds, chopped seeds and a beaten egg. Mix really well, using your hands and make into equal-sized patties.

4. Place the patties on a baking tray and cook in the oven. You can also cook the burgers on the grill for 20-30 minutes. If grilling, be sure to turn every five minutes. Serve on a wholegrain bun with a side salad of your choice.
