Behind the brand: The making of a true greek classic

GREEK skincare and make-up brand Korres (pronounced Ko-RES) was founded by George Korres in 1996.

While he was still a student, Korres started mixing natural pharmacy ingredients to create herbal preparations, natural remedies and eventually cosmetic products.

His brand started out in Athens’ first homeopathic pharmacy (where Korres used to work). The pharmacy remains the biggest of its kind in the city and now also serves as a training school for all new Korres team members.

The first Korres product was an aromatic herbal syrup with honey and aniseed, a recipe inspired by a warming spirit with honey concoction favoured by Korres’ grandfather. The first skincare product was the Wild Rose 24-hour cream, still a best-seller all over the world.

Today, the brand portfolio includes more than 400 natural and certified organic products, featuring a skin and haircare range, a make-up line and suncare and herbal preparations.


All the products are based on four groups of natural ingredients: herbs with pharmaceutical properties, Greek flora herbs, food ingredients and high-efficacy natural ingredients.

Natural is chosen over synthetic and the core values remain the same as in the pharmacy days — the use of herbs and natural ingredients of the highest quality; skin and environmentally friendly products with clinically tested effectiveness; affordable yet appealing.

Korres also continually invests in research regarding new technologies and ingredients and is involved in a number of partnerships, including an ongoing cooperation with Athens University’s Pharmacology School.

The company has 27 stores worldwide and is in 5,500 pharmacies in its homeland.
