>HAIR CARE John Frieda's senior stylist Jake Davies gives us some tips for two key trends for summer. "Unstructured curls are big news; loose and natural, random textures, an 'undone' look," he says. Get the look: Prepare washed hair with John Frieda Dream Curls Curl Perfector Spray (€5.99) then blast dry to get rid of the heavy wet, followed by tossing the head upside down to achieve the loose-curled look. Follow this by diffusing the hair in sections, adding hairspray to hold shape.

"Fringes are still big for Spring/Summer," says Davies, "side and sweeping fringes, nothing too blunt." Get the look: Wash hair and apply John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Formula Serum (€6.89) and John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straightening Potion Spray (€5.99) to wet hair. When the hair is nearly dry, blow-dry using a brush beginning with the front sections, treating the fringe as separate. Direct the nozzle of your hairdryer downwards to smooth the cuticle and always blow-dry your hair against the direction it will ultimately fall.

>DEEP CLEAN Garnier's new Pure Active Exfo-Brusher, €11.69 is a cleanser with an added bonus -- a Jedward haircut! Not really, it's actually a super-soft brush which provides a gentle exfoliation action to remove grime and dead skin cells, which can block pores and lead to breakouts.

>bright beauty Marks & Spencer has revamped its beauty and skincare ranges and the results are worth a look. There's targeted skincare for various skin types, as well as the high tech Advanced Formula range. And along with Tess Daly's popular Beauty range and Essential Colours (lots of zingy brights, perfect for summer) there's the Perfection make-up collection which has more than 200 shades. In stores now.
