Bag a unique bargain and support Cheeverstown
IRISH artist Graham Knuttel has designed a limited edition bag in aid of people with intellectual disabilities.
The Valentine bag is a canvas shoulder bag with an exclusive Graham Knuttel image
From the end of the month it will be sold in aid of Cheeverstown House, a charity which caters for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
"I'm delighted to be lending my support to such a worthy charity. Cheeverstown's work enables people with an intellectual disability to have full and meaningful lives," he said.
"I am pleased to support Cheeverstown and its vision of moving towards a future which respects the contribution and inclusion of people with an intellectual disability."
Knuttel counts many famous actors such as Colin Farrell, Sylvester Stallone and Whoopi Goldberg as his fans, and they all own his work.
He will be signing the bags in the homewares department of House of Fraser in Dundrum Town Centre on February 10, from 6.30 -- 8.30pm.
Cheeverstown's CEO Brian Gallagher said that all 2,500 of the limited edition bags are expected to sell out, since Knuttel has a well-established following.
"He has a reputation. His work explains him, and he seems to have a cult following. The bags are unique and they're ideal for people who have an eye for collectibles."
"The vast majority of the funds, bar our initial outlay to make the bag, will come to Cheeverstown and it'll have a direct impact on people using the services. It gives these people the choice to live their life. We work towards a vision that res-pects contribution and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities - that's our motto."
Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation providing a wide range of residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in Templeogue and various community locations in south county Dublin.
The Valentine Bag will retail at €40 and it will be sold exclusively in House of Fraser in Dundrum and Belfast. A limited number will also be available on cheeverstown.ie and on knuttel.com.
The Knuttel painting 'Valentine' on the bag depicts a couple at dinner, the man offering roses to his date while she looks on in discontent in a tense atmosphere.
However, Graham is leaving the painting open to interpretation.
