2,000 YEARS OF SPA LUXURY... NOW IN A JAR

Luxury Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza has quite romantic origins.

Founders Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza met in the city of Budapest; the descendant of a noble Hungarian family, Stephen had returned to the city to explore his roots while Margaret was there in her role as a US diplomat.

The couple met (later discovering it was a set-up) in 2001 and Stephen explained the history of Hungary's thermal waters; his great, great grandfather had commissioned one of the oldest and largest spas in Budapest.

After just a few visits to a spa, Margaret was amazed at the difference in her skin. This prompted the couple to create a skincare line that used the mineral properties in the spa waters.

THERMAL

So, really, the Omorovicza story began more than 2,000 years ago, when the curative properties of Hungary's thermal waters were first discovered.

Working with a Nobel prize-winning laboratory of dermatology, Omorovicza Cosmetics developed Mineral Cosmetology, a pioneering, patented delivery system that takes mineral skincare to a new level.

The waters in Budapest are said to be even more potent because the earth's crust is thinner, allowing more minerals to enter. Omorovicza products contain 60pc thermal waters, which are believed to help stimulate skin's elasticity and boost collagen production.

The Omorovicza product and professional treatment range launched in 2006 at the eponymous spa in Budapest and products are now available at some of the world's leading stores and spa destinations.

The range features cleansers, moisturisers, serums, body products and tinted 'complexion enhancers', which even skin tone, conceal blemishes and protect from UVA/B rays

Key products include the award-winning Gold Body Shimmer Oil, which is one of a number of products that contains real gold.

If you buy just one product, the award-winning Thermal Cleansing Balm (€65) is a must.

This black balm gently cleanses skin without stripping, leaving it soft and smooth.

It contains Hungarian Moor mud (rich in calcium and magnesium carbonates), sweet almond oil, orange blossom oil and the patented Mineral Cosmetology mineral delivery system.

The fans: Eva Green, Laura Linney and Daniel Craig are said to be fans of the line.

The price: Products start around €50.

Where to get it: Harvey Nichols, Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin 16 and online at www.omorovicza.com
