Fools in love fear loneliness above all else

MOST of us have fallen in love with someone totally inappropriate at some time. It's all a part of growing up, after all. For women, it's a case of we cannot choose where we will love, while for men, it's more to do with the fact that the heart wants what the dick wants, just ask Tony Soprano.

Whatever way the heart-shaped dice falls, we are all capable of making ourselves fools for love. And if Madonna (53), is seriously considering a marriage proposal from 24-year-old dancer Brahim Zaibat, who is said to have popped the question at a Kabbalah centre in New York three weeks ago, then someone needs to sit her down and tell her all about the tale of Demi and Ashton -- the one without a happy ending. The one where Demi ends up in rehab while Ashton plays laser tag with Lorene Scafaria, one of a long line of women he has been pictured with since his marriage split.

It never ceases to amaze me the unnecessary crap that sensible people will put themselves through in the name of love. Half the time it's not even real love they are messing up their lives for, the idea of being alone is just too scary.

And while Madonna's pals are said to be warning the singer to take things slowly, they are wasting their breath.

Have you ever taken good advice when it comes to matters of the heart?

I certainly haven't, but then again no ex of mine could potentially break my heart and my bank balance all at the same time.
