Stephanie Roche: Helen Cody designed my stunning White House dress

I've been focusing a lot on football the last few weeks and really haven't had a lot of time to myself .

Luckily I had fabulous Irish designer Helen Cody to help me prepare for the White House visit.

We've worked together before - Helen is responsible for my Ballon d'Or dress - and she's brilliant.

She knows what suits me, and more importantly, what I will be comfortable in for such an important occasion.

It's not easy trying to organise something like this through email, but we did it. Having been away in Croatia with the Irish team 10 days before I left for Houston, it left us with just one day to come up with the right look.

The dress is made from pearl grey, hand-loomed Calais lace with powder blue organza underneath and Helen created the beaded shamrock embellishment as a subtle nod to St Patrick's day.

When I was in Dublin I picked my own outfit for the event in Texas - it was a white dress with pink flowers from River Island.
