How power of plants gets under your skin

Liz Earle Skincare was co-founded in 1995 by former beauty editor Liz Earle along with her friend and business partner Kim Buckland.

Originally, Liz and Kim developed the range for themselves, after failing to find a high quality, botanically based skincare range that worked for all types of skin, particularly sensitive.

They wanted to use top quality, naturally active ingredients and create a range which was simple and dependable while still being a bit of a treat to use every day. The range began with the face essentials, Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Skin Repair Moisturiser and Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion.

Today, the brand uses more than 100 of the finest quality botanical ingredients, and an in-house botanist works directly with farmers and growers around the globe. The company has grown from its small beginnings, now employing more than 400 people. It has a multi-million pound turnover with customers in more than 90 countries and in March of last year, Liz took to her online blog to announce the brand had gone into partnership with beauty giant Avon.

Liz Earle Dublin stockist Wilde & Green, in Milltown, is celebrating its third birthday today and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday the store is offering hand and arm massages and half-hour skincare consultation workshops with a Liz Earle member of staff. The event will run from 10am through to 5.30pm each day; you need to book and there are goodie bags for customers who have booked in.

If you buy just one product: The iconic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser has to be it (prices start at €15 for the 100ml pump starter kit), which picked up an Evening Herald Beauty Award gong this year. Designed to be removed with the accompanying muslin cloth, it has a plant-based formula with soothing ingredients like chamomile and cocoa butter.
