Gadget gal: Handheld cleaner
OMG, how I hate vacuuming.
HOW MUCH DO YOU HATE IT?
I would rather do any number of embarrassing things in the middle of O’Connell Street on a Saturday night than drag out the vacuum cleaner. There are other things I don’t mind doing that other people loathe: for example, I love cleaning the bathroom. I really do. I am more than happy to scrub out the bog, but vacuuming — I hate it.
THE STATE OF YOUR APARTMENT!
Yeah, but the other thing I hate is a mess. I hate those dust bunnies — the way they gather in the corners, and under the sofa — and crumbs on the floor from my morning toast. And I don’t like the pan and brush, either, because you never do get all of it up, do you?
YOU CERTAINLY DON’T.
When I got my hands on the Dyson Handheld Cleaner, I thought, ‘Hmm, this may be the answer to my prayers!’ Not the ones where the housekeeping fairies come in the dead of night — the one where it’s suddenly easy to tidy up the place.
DID YOUR DREAM COME TRUE?
Pretty much! This handsome piece of technology boasts all the things that the big Dysons do and has the clear plastic cylinder that contains all the muck. None of those fussy bags, thanks. You just do the cleaning, and then a handy button lets you empty it right over the bin.
SOUNDS LIKE MAGIC!
It is, mainly. It’s not as effective on the rugs — they still need Daddy Dyson — but Baby Dyson is superb for quick touch ups. I can’t say I love vacuuming now, but I definitely dislike it less.
