Gadget gal: Epson stylus photo P50
Printers are rarely pretty.
SHOULD THEY BE? Most computer equipment has become rather sleek, and at times colourful. So, when you see a printer that looks good, unlike the majority out there, you can't help but take notice.
AND YOU'VE NOTICED ... The Epson P50 is shiny and onyx in colour, and will fit in perfectly in your fancy home office. This photo printer fits in line with the other printers that Epson have been manufacturing in the past few years, and it shows that they've got their finger on the design pulse.
PRETTY IS ... As pretty does, yes, and this does rather prettily. Do we really need to print out photographs anymore? Actually, once you start, you realise that are still plenty of people in your life, of the senior sort, who mightn't be internet savvy. Poor Auntie Muriel, pining away for snaps from your holiday! Well maybe not; but still, there are times when it's nice to have an image, framed, on the mantelpiece, and this is a great way to go about getting one up there.
HOW DOES THE PICTURE LOOK? Great, but it takes about five minutes to print out, and you wouldn't want it any other way, would you? The whole point is quality, not quantity -- unless you have hundreds of ageing aunties. Anyway, if you want fast, use the internet to spread around your happy face; otherwise, if you're looking for sharp, colourful reproductions, you should be delighted with the P50.
IS IT JUST FOR PHOTOS? Yeah, there's no point in printing out documents with this. And there are six colour cartridges which may result in spending a pretty penny on replacements. At any rate, this is a good-looking piece of equipment that produces good-looking results, so let's not quibble about how we get them.
