Stripe jumper I just love stripes, and have lots of stripey clothes, which you can dress up or down and wear anywhere. Take this jumper which I got in TopShop, it's quite French looking don't you think? The whole Breton vibe looks perfect with a pair of jeans, or my tweed pants.
Organic porridge oats We used to have porridge growing up and, these days it seems to be hip again. Maybe it's a recession thing, it's cheap and fills you up, or maybe it's a retro thing harping back to the 1970s. Of course, there's an art to making it: half milk, half water and lots of stirring.
Cousin Timmy It's nice when you don't have to pretend to be friends with your cousin because they're family but when you're actually mates with them because they're great people. I've been friends with my cousin Timmy since I was a kid, and love this picture of him because it's quite goofy and cute.
The Country Girls trilogy This gives an insight into the lives of girls growing up in the Irish countryside in the 1960s. I'm a fan of this trilogy, I guess, because I'm a country girl. Edna O'Brien writes in such a youthful voice about the anxieties of growing up and the trauma of struggling with finding yourself, that you feel less alone.
Asymmetric dress The 1970s has to have been one of the sexiest style eras. Full of boho chic, this dress isn't vintage, but it looks like it could be. Whenever I put it on, I feel instantly glamorous, especially with a splash of bright red lipstick.
Boots While I do have a few pairs of stilettos I never wear them because I'm not that comfortable being very feminine . . . I'm a country girl, remember? My stiletto substitutes are these lace-up witchy boots, which I wear with everything. They really give any outfit that extra edge.
Lyons tea This reminds me of my dad; he'd put about five Lyons teabags into a pot, and boil it until it looked like tar but, strangely enough, there was nothing like it. Today, I still don't drink anything else . . . it's far superior to any other tea brand.
Bag I have a weakness for brown leather and second-hand bags in general . . . perhaps it's because vintage makes you look like you don't care about your appearance too much. My style rule is not to look too pristine or over-groomed. As you've probably guessed, I'm a bit of a tomboy, and not 100pc comfortable looking too girly.
PJ Harvey CD Ever since I started listening to bands, I've been a fan of PJ Harvey. She's one of the few female artists in her genre that has consistently put out good albums, such as this one, Dry, which describes being alive.
Yellow hot water bottle: I was apprehensive when I first saw these hot water bottles on sale at just €2.99 each. However, this little bottle is sturdier than it looks and quickly became my best friend, comforting me through a long cold winter. It's also great for tummy aches. However, there are some drawbacks: nothing's worse than waking up next to a cold hot water bottle!Aoife Duffin plays Gwendolyn in The Importance of Being Earnest, alongside Stockard Channing at the Gaiety Theatre, from June 2, for three weeks only.
