FIVE ways to improve your mental health and daily levels of happiness:

1. Gain an understanding of your own mental health issues through self-exploration.

2: Share any burdens with a family member or friend.

3: Exercise regularly; at least three times a week for 45 minutes per session.

4: Engage in relaxation exercises such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga or tai chi at least weekly.

5: Avoid mood altering substances such as alcohol or marijuana; they can bring on negative moods.
