DEPRESSION is a very common condition which affects more than 450,000 people in Ireland at any one time. Any of us, irrespective of age, gender or background, can be affected at some point in our life.
> Symptoms of depression can include feeling sad, anxious or bored. You may have low energy, or feel tired or fatigued. Your sleep pattern may be affected and you may be waking up frequently during the night
> You may have poor concentration, or your thinking may be slowed down. You may experience a loss of interest in hobbies, family or social life.
> You may also experience feelings of low self-esteem and guilt. It is important to visit your GP if you experience any of these symptoms.
