A warm, sunny weekend...with rain (of course)

BROLLIES should be kept close at hand this weekend as the soggy August continues.

However, at least it won't get any colder, say forecasters.

Met Eireann's forecaster Joan Blackburn told the Herald this morning that showers are expected across Dublin and the east coast tomorrow afternoon and evening, as well as on Sunday morning.

"It's going to be mixed weather throughout the weekend but the temperatures will be quite good -- they will be in the high teens and up to 20C -- 21C," Ms Blackburn said.

"There will be rain on the coast from Cork to Dublin on Saturday, probably in the afternoon and in the evening and it will come back on Sunday with heavy showers in the morning.

"From the late afternoon, the showers will become more scattered and the rest of the country will get away with more sunshine."

And Met Eireann says it won't be all "gloom and doom".

Coolest

"It's reasonable weather..., there will certainly be some pleasant sunshine," she said.

August has been as disappointing as June and July with many areas having their coolest August temperatures for almost 20 years.

Met Eireann figures reveal Cork Airport's 13.9C average temperature so far this month is the lowest for August since 1992.
