The youngest-ever contestant in the Rose of Tralee will be getting her Leaving Cert results online today.

The Wicklow Rose, Megan Swart, won't be celebrating with her friends tonight as she'll be joining her fellow roses at a banquet.

"I'm not too nervous because I just haven't had time to think about it," she told the Herald.

"I can get them online at 12 tomorrow, so that's the plan.

"If I don't get what I want, there's always a way around it.

"All the girls are saying they'll have the prosecco ready and we're staying at Lough Rynn Castle, which is some way to celebrate.

"I'm not going out for my results as I'll be having a banquet dinner in a castle so I can't complain," she said.

The week-long festival involves quite a few outfit changes, and Megan said she's delighted that a local boutique are taking care of her wardrobe.

"I was lucky enough to be sponsored by Skyfall in Gorey, which is amazing," she said.

"It's quite hard to get sponsorship, so it's just a gift to be dressed from head-to-toe every day.

"We always rob each other's stuff, there's no cattiness - everyone is happy to share," she added.

The Rose of Tralee festival was launched yesterday, and this year's winner will be crowned next Tuesday.

Back again this year is host Daithi O Se who said he doesn't pay any heed to the online detractors.

"There's people out there who never watch the Rose of Tralee, and there's nothing I can say in my lifetime that would ever convince them to watch it.

"So I always say, 'If you don't like it, there's a remote control'," he said.

"I don't pay any heed to the negative things people say about me.

"I wouldn't have been like that a couple of years ago, but now I really don't care."
