TV's 'goody-two-shoes' Laura Whitmore admits she isn't a party girl
TV’s Laura Whitmore may be regularly pictured at all the wildest parties in London but the 30-year-old has revealed that she has never taken any illegal drugs.
“I’m such a goody-two-shoes. That’s the funny thing. People probably think I am this wild party girl. I’m not,” the Bray native said.
“I’ve never touched a drug in my life. I can tell you that right now. People probably think I do. That’s not who I am. I like to go to bed early.”
The presenter added that people are often pleasantly surprised when they meet her as they think she’s going to be “really up” herself.
“From the outside, my life looks a lot more glamorous than it is, because of the things I do. Inside is very normal,” she said.
Speaking about her much-publicised break-up with Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas, Whitmore said their split was “really, really hard”.
The end of their two-year relationship in December 2012 coincided with her filming ITV hit show, I’m A Celebrity… in Australia, which meant she had little time to process her emotions.
“I went through that massive break-up when I was doing live TV every day, on the other side of the world, in Australia. People could write about it, people could guess about it and at the end of the day, I was just a girl who was really hurt,” she said.
“But you know what, if you can do live TV in Australia during a break-up, there is nothing you can’t do.”
Her mum flew Down Under to help her cope with the emotional strain as she came to grips with the end of her romance with the musician.
“I wasn’t well, only because of the stress of everything that was going on. I lost a lot of weight. My dad rang up and said, ‘You’re too skinny’,” she continued.
“Break-ups are hard. But I couldn’t even go out and get drunk with my girlfriends.”
Whitmore and O’Reilly have been pictured together several times since amid reports of an on-off relationship but she insists that they “broke up for a reason”.
When pressed on why the split happened, she added how it was “no-one’s business why we broke up”.
Having turned 30 last May Whitmore added: “this has been my favourite year. I feel quite content”.
