CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LIVE: MONACO V ARSENAL

TV3, 7pm

Coverage of the Champions League last-16 second-leg match from Stade Louis II, where the Gunners will need to score at least three goals to progress (Kick-off 7.45pm).

Arsene Wenger’s side have it all to do if they are to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010, having suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at home last time out. As has been the case on several occasions this season, they were especially susceptible to being hit on the counter-attack as a result of too many men pressing forward, and it will have been particularly galling to concede the third goal in this manner after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had appeared to give them a lifeline by scoring in stoppage time that narrowed the gap to a single goal.

Presented by Tommy Martin, with commentary by Trevor Welch and Mark Lawrenson.

HORIZON: DANCING IN THE DARK - THE END OF PHYSICS

BBC Two, 11.20pm

Scientists don’t know what most of the universe is made of, with atoms accounting for only 4pc of it and the hypothetical dark matter and energy making up the rest. The Large Hadron Collider at Cern has recently been upgraded and the hope is that it will enable researchers to identify the nature of dark matter and reveal its secrets. The stakes are high because if the mystery is not solved, it might mean that physics itself needs a rethink.

ONE BORN EVERY MINUTE

Channel 4, 9pm

Former lovers Marie and Mark put on a united front to be the best parents they can be, as they look forward to the arrival of their third child together. Brazilian first-time mum Caia is focused on a natural birth, but her partner Bernardo’s outbreak of ‘man flu’ is an unforeseen distraction for the midwife.
