Sharon wows Six One viewers with sharp new look
WATCH out Anne Doyle, there's a new blonde bob in the RTE newsroom.
Six One anchorwoman Sharon Ni Bheolain has once again turned heads by trading her long tresses for a new razor-sharp look.
And it looks as if the fluent Irish speaker has been taking lessons from veteran broadcaster Anne Doyle when it comes to hair style.
Sharon (38) sent Six One viewers into an excited frenzy last night when she debuted her stunning new look. A refreshing change from the severe school teacher bun she prefers during news bulletins, the dramatic new style will no doubt lead to renewed comparisons with her older colleague Anne.
It certainly wowed the viewers, and will surely add impetus to the campaign to have Sharon installed as the 9pm anchorwoman.
TV viewers tuned in last night to see Sharon sporting the cutting-edge bob, complete with a layer sweeping elegantly across the side of her face.
It's a bold look that will no doubt with replicated in salons across the country. Sharon teamed it with smoky eye-shadow, a low-cut top and a jacket with leather sleeves, creating an image befitting of any Hollywood A-lister.
It's a brave new direction for the woman who recently admitted she may not have enjoyed such success if she possessed mousey brown hair.
But while her new image can easily compete with any international stars, the blonde bombshell is still playing second fiddle in her own newsroom.
Having been at the helm of RTE's Six One bulletins since 2005, Sharon has amassed a loyal band of male followers.
Yet the newsreader crown still belongs to Anne Doyle, who sits regally in front of the cameras for the Nine O'Clock News every night. The older woman favours a classic look and has long been the champion of the sharp bob style, wearing it with a flair that left younger wannabes trailing in her wake.
