Wallis Simpson: The Secret Letters

Channel 4, 9pm Wallis Simpson (below) was the American divorcée who is portrayed as the woman who encouraged King Edward VIII to abandon the throne of England so that he could marry her. However, now it seems that all the while she was in love with another man, and that she really only married Edward for his money.

TV3, 10pm This series has shown how thousands of Dubliners were forced to live in appalling housing conditions until relatively recent times.

How come it took so long to confront the squalid poverty of tenement life, particularly in the north inner city?

It appears corruption, bad planning and political ineptitude were all at fault.

TV3, 7.30pm A celebrity in the United States, Tipperary-born chef Stuart O'Keeffe returns home to rustle up some Irish food Hollywood style. He cooks a Sunday breakfast for some friends, with corned beef hash, a vegetarian frittata with asparagus and spinach, and an unusual hangover cure -- a brown sugar mojito.
