Miriam O'Callaghan: I get more gossip at RTE now husband Steve's gone to BBC
Miriam O'Callaghan has said she hears more gossip at RTE now that her husband works for the BBC.
The Prime Time presenter said she was more than thrilled for her other half, Steve Carson, the former director of programmes at RTE, when he was offered a role with the BBC in Belfast.
Miriam said she and her eight children have got into a routine since Steve's move up north.
"He's away, but he's also around a lot, and I'm so busy too and the kids are so busy that they're like, 'Hi Dad, were you gone?'" she said.
"It's not that I don't miss him, but you get into a routine, don't you.
"I bring the boys to school in jeans and one of Steve's shirts. Then I get home and make the beds and put on a wash, and then I make a coffee and have my favourite part of the day - 20 minutes lying on my bed, catching up on the news and my Twitter feed.
"Then it's into my Miriam O'Callaghan clothes and it's a total change of mood."
Miriam joked that she hears more gossip in RTE since Steve's move because no one told her anything when he was around.
But she said she was delighted he had the opportunity to resume his career at the BBC in 2013 because he had previously left it to be with her in Ireland.
"I made a professional choice to leave the BBC, but Steve left because he chose me," she said.
"That was different, it was unfinished business. And now it has come full circle."
Miriam said she is happy to remain at Prime Time and with her Saturday morning radio show on RTE radio.
"I'm happy and I'm lucky and I'm busier than I've ever been," Miriam added.
