Kathryn and Aidan double up to put RTE on a Winning Streak
RTE's Winning Streak is to get its first ever double act when it returns this autumn, the Herald can exclusively reveal.
Glamorous Kathryn Thomas and The Café presenter Aidan Power are to team up to co-host the lottery show.
The National Lottery game show will be a departure for Ms Thomas, who previously presented RTE travel programme No Frontiers.
Aidan will be coming straight from fronting the station's newest reality show Failte Towers, which begins tomorrow, to join Kathryn beside the big wheel.
Aidan, who began on children's television, joined Laura Woods on the couch of The Café before funnyman Liam MacCormack was called into to fill her shoes.
And from Saturday, Liam will be doing a double act with How Low Can You Go star Baz Ashmawy keeping the 12 celebs in line as they try to run a real-life hotel in Failte Towers.
But Liam and Baz are no match for the talented, Kathryn who has won fans all over the country with her reports from holiday destinations in foreign parts. The blonde beauty even scooped the coveted Personality of the Year award at this years IFTA awards.
The pairing will be replacing radio host Derek Mooney on the Saturday night gig and the jury is out on whether they will adopt his signature sign-off for the show -- 'Byeeeee'.
The RTE veteran followed a string of male presenters including Mike Murphy who have led members of the public through the various games such as Diamond Dilemma as they tried to win a family holiday and some extra cash for that long-desired conservatory.
