I know 3 people who had botch breast ops - Elaine

PRESENTER Elaine Crowley says she personally knows of three people who have had botched boob job operations in the past six months.

The TV3 broadcaster says one woman even suffered the shock of her nipple falling off following the surgery.

And she revealed another woman had to get the implants removed after the cosmetic surgery.

Midday host Elaine told her guests on a recent show: "I know three people who in the past six months have had breast augmentations in ... a certain clinic.

"They're going in getting serious operations."

The broadcaster, who joined the station in 2000, went on to discuss the disappointing and painful results that her pals suffered from the cosmetic procedures.

"One of the girls had to get them removed, another one's nipple fell off, I mean, it's serious.

"This is the lack of regulation in the industry here. What does it take for the Government to put in strict controls?" she added.

The topic was raised last week.as Elaine discussed with the panel of guests the disastrous effects of Botox fillers, liposuction and breast implants.

The issue was brought about by news that a young seven-year-old girl received a boob job as well as liposuction as a gift from her mother in the UK.

The chatty host declined to expand on the matter and did comment further when contacted by the Herald.

Elaine, a former newsreader, took over as the Midday producer in November last year and said she was delighted to take on the additional role.

"The opportunity came up and I said 'why not?' -- it's an amazing opportunity and I think you need to be able to do both."

INSANE

"The more strings to your bow the better -- I love the show and I wanted more editorial control of the show, so it works well," she admitted, saying that she believed presenting often had a "shelf life".

"For the first couple of weeks it was a challenge and I was thinking 'Oh my God, am I completely insane?' but I got through it and I'm really enjoying it."

While Elaine stressed she has plans for the weekday programme now she is in full control, she has not divulged any details of the changes, which are in "the pipeline".
