I didn't watch Breaking Bad, says Irish actress Kerry starring in spin-off
She stars in the prequel to Breaking Bad, but Irish actress Kerry Condon has admitted she never watched the hugely popular show before landing a role in Better Call Saul.
However, the Tipperary native (32), who also appeared in hit series The Walking Dead, reckons it was no bad thing.
"I hadn't seen it, but because this was the prequel I felt I didn't need to have seen it," she said.
"I hadn't seen The Walking Dead before I first appeared in it either, but because my character is unaware of anything that's going on beyond her own life, it didn't make any difference.
"I think it was a good thing that I didn't know about my father-in-law's life, because my character Stacey doesn't know about Mike's life."
Now that the first series of Better Call Saul has ended, Kerry has been keen to find out more about the multi-award-winning cult drama that inspired it.
"I did make a point of watching Breaking Bad when I finished filming Better Call Saul because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about," she said.
"I'm on the final season at the moment."
Despite having a hugely successful career both on screen and on stage before making her name in America, Intermission star Kerry said she's happy that her rise has been a "slow-burner" and that she didn't have to deal with fame at a very young age.
"I did like that slow-burning approach because it's nice to actually live your late teens and your 20s in private," she told the RTE Guide.
"I got to do all that crazy stuff and I got to do it privately.
"People who get success very young sometimes don't have that luxury."
