Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe spoofs Twilight in Simpsons episode

Daniel Radcliffe, the Harry Potter actor, is to star in an episode of The Simpsons in a spoof of the successful Twilight franchise.

The 21 year-old provides the voice for Edmund, a young vampire who falls in love with Homer's daughter Lisa.

However, Homer and Edmund's father, Dracula, try to end the relationship after the couple run away together.

The cartoon episode, entitled Tweenlight, will be screened on Halloween.

Al Jean, The Simpsons producer, said: "Daniel was very excited to do The Simpsons."

Another British actor, Robert Pattinson, is the star of the actual Twilight films, based on the books by American author Stephanie Meyer.

The 23 year-old plays Edward Cullen, a vampire who falls in love with a high school girls named Bella Swann, played by Kristen Stewart, 20.

Daniel Radcliffe has been determined to take on a variety of roles alongside his career as the title role in the Harry Potter films. He disrobed for his part in the play Equus which was well-received both in the West End in London 2007 and on Broadway in New York in 2008.

In 2007 he starred as Jack Kipling in the television drama My Boy Jack.

Next year he will appear on stage again in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in New York. After nearly ten years as part of the Potter franchise he finished filming both parts of the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows earlier this year. Part one of the last film will be released in November.
