Grainne mulls a move to GMTV
RTE star Grainne Seoige could be looking at a bright future abroad after taking up a role with ITV's GMTV amid a massive shake-up of the morning programme.
Since her presenting duties on the All Ireland Talent Show wrapped up, the glamorous Galwegian has been working for the rival station, as she covers the Cheltenham Festival.
But since reports have emerged that the hit morning show is undergoing a massive overhaul, with producers and presenters alike being scrutinised, speculation is rife that there has never been a better time for the seasoned presenter to make the move.
While the mum-of-one may have one of the most enviable television careers within RTE, she has not been hitting our screens as much in recent months.
And the brunette beauty set tongues wagging when she claimed that although her GMTV gig was a one-off for the time being, she was looking forward to "what comes of it".
She stressed that her new job had been cleared by her RTE bosses, as her work on the talent show had officially finished for the year.
"It's just a stand alone thing at the moment but we'll see what comes of it," she told the Herald. "I've covered the Galway races for RTE a couple of times and I love the craic and the people.
"The atmosphere is amazing. It's actually my first time in Cheltenham. If I get a chance I will put a bet on but work has to come first."
The private star stayed coy when asked about her TV prospects, as she didn't want to reveal details until anything was "confirmed".
"I am working on a few things and I will be kept busy," she said. "I don't like to say anything until things are confirmed."
According to Grainne's agent, GMTV approached her to cover the Irish at Cheltenham because she is so familiar with the crowd.
Grainne was joined by GMTV sports reporter and former tennis champ Dan Lobb to present festival highlights, and yesterday she was on hand to present the glamorous goings-on of the Best Dressed Lady event.
Dressed to impress in a black hat and dress, the RTE presenter and her husband Stephen Cullinane enjoyed dinner together last night, although Grainne insisted that she wouldn't be joining the revellers at Cheltenham's favourite celebrity haunt, Club 21, given that she had an early start this morning.
Grainne's newfound success with the British breakfast show sees her following in the footsteps of Lorraine Keane -- who regularly contributed to GMTV prior to the Galwegian swooping in.
