Glamorous Angela to join jet set with Getaways job

SHE impressed with her documentary all about redheads and now stylist and presenter Angela Scanlon is about to make a return to RTE screens.

The glamorous fashionista is in for an adventurous few weeks after landing a role as the new host of travel show Getaways.

The joint RTE/BBC production will start filming in the next month and Angela will replace current presenter Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain.

While it is a coveted gig, allowing the host to travel to jaw-dropping locations across the world, sources said Aoibhinn didn't have the time to commit to another series.

Aoibheann, the other half of Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy, is said to have called time on the presenting job in order to concentrate on her PhD studies.

The 30-year-old, who is hoping to complete her PhD in mathematics this September, has been abroad in recent weeks attending a series of top education events in the United Kingdom and the US.

"It was Aoibheann's decision to leave the show because she felt she didn't have enough time to commit to it considering how busy she is with academic stuff," said a source.

"RTE have been very impressed with Angela, plus she is very outgoing so it seemed like the obvious choice."

ATTRACTIONS

Angela, who divides her time between Dublin and London, is about to head off to San Francisco where she is expected to sample the attractions on offer in the US city for Getaways.

The Ratoath native, who has also been busy working on a new four-part series for RTE, Angela Scanlon's Naked Truth, will marry her long-term partner, Roy, in Wicklow this summer.

The bride-to-be is getting her dream dress custom-made by Beyonce's favourite Irish designer, Sorcha O'Raghallaigh.
