DARREN'S killer is back, but Love/Hate actress Caoilfhionn Dunne has swapped Lizzie and the mean streets of Dublin, for King Lear on the stage.
The 28-year-old actress will join theatre veterans Owen Roe and Phelim Drew in The Abbey's upcoming staging of Shakespeare's King Lear.
The last time we saw the Dubliner she was sporting a shaved head, and was clutching a gun as she mowed down Darren in the gangland drama's no-holds-barred season finale.
But as exclusive rehearsal shots show, the hair is back, the gun is gone and Caoilfhionn is ready for an entirely different kind of role.
Caoilfhionn will be playing Lear's daughter Reagan in the play, which is set to begin its run on February 12.
King Lear was the first ever Shakespearian play staged at the Abbey Theatre in 1928 and revived in 1930.
But it has been over 80 years since the last staging.
Unsurprisingly, buzz is already building about the production.
A spokesperson from The Abbey said it would be one of the most impressive shows of 2013.
"We're delighted and excited about the new production," the spokesperson said.
"We have an outstanding cast, and Caoilfhionn will shine on stage as Reagan. This production is going to be a real spectacle; we want to surprise the audience."
The cast is 21 strong and includes some of Ireland's most renowned actors and actresses, including Chocolat star Hugh O'Connor.
It is being directed by Selina Cartmell who has been described by the theatre as "visionary".
Last weekend, Caoilfhionn joined fellow Love/Hate cast member Peter Coonan and Laurence Kinlan in The 24 Hour Plays at the Abbey. The show sold out with all proceeds going to Dublin Youth Theatre.
Filming for the next series of Love/Hate is due to start at the end of February, so it looks like it's going to be a busy few months for the young actress.
