Eoghan McDermott: 'I thought Junior Eurovision was going to be gimmicky'
Eoghan McDermott is set to host the first series of the Junior Eurovision on TG4 and said he thought the show might be "gimmicky" at first.
This is the first time Ireland is entering the competition and the song will be sang in Irish.
"I wondered if people would think it was a bit gimmicky with all the songs in Irish but that was blown away in the first few minutes - the kids and the songs are amazing," he told the Herald.
The contestants will be whittled down over five weeks starting this Sunday and the final will take place in Bulgaria on November 21.
The judges are Niamh Kavanagh, Brian Kennedy and Stiofan O Fearail.
