A DUBLIN groom has revealed he felt like he was walking a tightrope as he planned a once-off circus-themed wedding - unknown to his future wife.

Tonight's episode of Don't Tell the Bride shows Donaghmede native Richie Byrne shocking fiancee Amanda with the extravagant wedding, complete with a reception held in a real circus tent.

"The whole thing was pretty risky. She would've wanted a small, low-key wedding and I planned a huge circus-themed one instead," Richie (32) told the Herald.

From picking out - and trying on - the wedding dress to asking Fossett's Circus for the loan of their tent, Richie admitted he might have gone "too far" with his ambitious plans.

MARRIED

Despite the day going to plan, the Dubliner admitted he's nervous for his new wife (27) to see tonight's show.

"We're still married for the time being anyway. I'm just hoping to get past tonight because there's lot of stuff she doesn't know that happened," he said. Don't Tell The Bride airs at 9pm on RTE2.
