Brendan's taking Mrs Brown for Late chat

They say laughter is the best medicine. And Dublin funnyman Brendan O'Carroll is laughing all the way to the bank after the success of his new TV show.

The legendary performer has said he's delighted with the ratings that his Saturday night comedy show is garnering among Irish TV fans desperately in need of cheering up.

And he'll be talking all about the making of RTE 1's Mrs Brown's Boys to Ryan Tubridy on tomorrow night's Late Late Show.

A recent episode attracted a massive 760,000 viewers, making it the top-rated show of the weekend -- even trouncing the nine o'clock news as well as the Friday night chatshow.

An RTE insider told the Herald the audience figures for the second episode of the series set a "new record".

"RTE is getting very positive feedback and the opinion is that viewers seem to really buy into the warmth of the material and the feel-good vibe," he said.

The BBC has announced it will include the series as a flagship show in its new Spring schedule and will be broadcasting it for six weeks from February 21.
