Pat Kenny has landed a major coup for his new UTV chat show after lining-up high-profile stars Brian O’Driscoll and Martina Navratilova to join him on set.

The  celebs will make up two of the guests to appear on the first five episodes of the Piers Morgan-style intimate chat show.

The other two guests are Westlife’s Shane Filan and singer Lulu.

The interviews will be pre-recorded at the Mansion House to be broadcast later in what is rumoured to be a Saturday night slot.

It is expected the show will air for the first time later this month.

Brian O’Driscoll is expected to look back on his massively successful career as well as future plans.

With the gay-marriage referendum on the horizon, gay former tennis superstar Martina Navratilova’s chat with Pat is also expected to

be topical.

The show does not have a title yet, but will be recorded in front of an audience of around 140 people in the Round Room of the Mansion House.

The first five shows will be broadcast before summer, but UTV Ireland has commissioned a run of 13 episodes so eight will not be on our screens until after the summer break.

A source has said Kenny is keen to make sure his guests are well known with a story to tell beyond their professional life. He is rumoured to be chasing golfer Rory McIlroy and actor Liam Neeson as future guests.

The show will be the veteran presenter’s first major return to television since hosting a one-off show for the launch of UTV Ireland.

He had been presenting the Prime Time current affairs programme before quitting the national broadcaster.
