Tristan has all the right moves as another dance show comes calling

HE already won over American audiences with his moves and now Irish dancer Tristan MacManus has set his sights on Strictly Come Dancing in the UK.

The Bray native will, no doubt, wow British audiences when he joins the line-up of professionals for the forthcoming season of the hit BBC One flagship series.

Recently married Tristan spent three years on Dancing With The Stars in America, where he most notably partnered Gladys Knight and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson.

A former competitor in contests around Europe, the 31-year-old will make his debut on TV phenomenon Strictly, which will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, in the autumn alongside fellow newcomer Joanne Clifton.

They are replacing outgoing dancers Artem Chigvintsev and James Jordan, who will not be returning to the series.

Anya Garnis is another who will not partner a celebrity, but will remain part of the choreography team.

“We’re delighted that Joanne and Tristan will be joining our fantastic cast of professional dancers this year and look forward to them becoming part of the Strictly family,” the show’s executive producer Louise Rainbow said.

Tristan began ballroom dancing at the age of nine and has appeared in a string of successful stage shows through his career, including Dirty Dancing and Burn The Floor.

newlywed

He came to prominence overseas in 2010 when he first featured in the US TV sensation Dancing With The Stars.

He took time out of his busy schedule to get married to Australian actress and model Tahyna Tozzi in January.

They walked down the aisle in front of 160 close friends and family in Sydney.

Their wedding ceremony took place in a local Catholic church and was followed by a lavish reception at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in the suburb of Cronulla, where the bride grew up. Guests included Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe.

The couple were together five years before saying I Do’. They have been primarily based in Los Angeles, but are reportedly planning a move Down Under - as Tristan can’t get enough of the Australian lifestyle.
