The Insider: The place to eat

TUCKED away on Saint Mary's Road in Ballsbridge, Marcel's Restaurant is becoming the place to be seen while tucking into tasty plates of French cuisine. X Factor judge Louis Walsh and award-winning actress Billie Piper are both fans of the chic and sophisticated eaterie. Overlooking St Mary's Park, it's a great place to head on an oh-so romantic date.

It was an evening of bubbles and blow dries as chic and sophisticated salon Dylan Bradshaw launched their winter and festive season styles. Design duo Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney were on hand to offer advice, while top hairstylist Stephen Kelly discussed this season's trends. Norah Casey, photographer Barry McCall and handbag designer Pauric Sweeney were all in attendance. Saba provided the tasty canapés and guests were treated to hand massages before their nails were polished.

Fancy a night filled with awkward laughs? Of course you do. Writer and dreamy actor David Fennelly's latest play, Fishes, is set to become a runaway hit. Set in a dingy flat in Dublin, the comedy focuses on Larry, a modern-day "typical" Irishman. Directed by John Mortan, this is a refreshingly honest and beautifully written show, which runs at Smock Alley from December 3-11. And keep an eye out for David Fennelly – we reckon he's going to be a very big deal.

Expect plenty of ice cold Grey Goose vodka and models in mini skirts. Tomorrow night, party people will gather at the Grafton Lounge for the so-called Hotspots 10th birthday bash. Virginia Macari, Madeline Mulqueen, Tiffany Stanley and Nicola Hughes will all be there, sipping cocktails and dancing the night away. The Grafton Lounge House Band and Hotspots resident DJ Steve O will keep the crowds bopping with a mix of RnB and old school classics.
