The Insider

A new bromance has come to the Diary's attention, namely Christy Dignan and Gavin Friday. The two singers were spotted hanging out together over the weekend as they made their way down Exchequer Street. The Aslan frontman appeared deep in chat with the Angel singer and they appeared to be making their way in the direction of Lillie's Bordello. Also seen with them was artist Guggi, who seems to be a permanent fixture in the Library area of the VIP club these days.

Full details of this year's Dublin Fashion Festival will be unveiled this week at a bash in the Westin Hotel. Guests at the invite-only event will be treated to a drinks reception before a live catwalk show featuring many of our best-known models. Giving attendees a taste of the next season's hot trends, one lucky guest will also walk away with a shopping voucher worth €1,000 while a horde of Arnotts goody bags are also up for grabs.

Meanwhile House of Fraser in Dundrum town centre will open its doors tomorrow for its Autumn/Winter 2012 collections. Taking place in Cafe Zest on level 3, the event will see them showcasing all the must-have looks for the next couple of months with many of the usual socialites expected to attend.

•We welcomed in one of the stars of the hit movie The Secret over the weekend.

The book, which has sold over 200 million copies worldwide, featured Michael Bernard Beckwith and he was out giving a seminar at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Santry. The man who dispenses advice to such stars as Oprah Winfrey and will.i.am was over here advising Irish fans on how to better their lives. The founder of Agape International Spiritual centre was over here sharing his advice for one day only.

•Preparation is underway ahead of the first Valentia Isle Festival, which takes place this September.

Early bird tickets are now on sale for the event, which features live music, local crafts and art installations alongside artisan food and holistic therapy. But this festival has one edge on its rivals -- it's also the chance to meet a prospective match. Avril Mulcahy, aka Miss Singlelista, will be offering any single attendees the chance to take part in her power flirting workshop with various dating events across the weekend.

Described as a "music and mingling" festival, running from September 14 to 16, there's also plenty of music to keep attendees entertained.

Among those on the bill for the Kerry event are the Rubberbandits, Jerry Fish, Donal Dineen, the Frank & Walkers and Ham Sandwich.

Extra activities for anyone feeling energetic include canoeing, cycling, surfing and panoramic walks with the Valentia Island half marathon event taking place over the weekend.
