IT'S the hit movie that everyone's dying to see, and it's hitting the big screens next Friday, July 20.

But some venues are getting in earlier than others when it comes to the first look at the big-budget blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale.

The red carpet will be rolled out at the Savoy Cinema next Wednesday as attendees get the first look at the new flick.

And ardent film fans who can't wait to see the next installment of Bruce Wayne's crusade to save Gotham City will be able to catch a 6am screening of the flick at the Odeon in Coolock on the morning of July 20.

•The Live At Leopardstown events are continuing to set the pace on the social scene this summer with more live entertainment lined up over the coming weeks.

Tomorrow night it's the turn of Jape, plus special guests Fred.

Ticket holders will beat a path to the southside race-track to enjoy some summertime racing action before the 9pm concerts.

There is the chance to have a flutter and check out some live music.

There is also a 1950s Tearoom, a weatherproof Big Top, and plenty of tasty treats on offer at the carnival food village. Tickets are priced at €15.

Every week also sees organisers running a Most Stylish competition with the chance to win a €250 voucher for Pandora, with the overall final taking place on August 16.

•American country music singer Kris Kristofferson will be coming back to these shores this winter.

He will take to the stage at Dublin's Olympia on December 10. And such was the demand to see him in action that a second date -- December 11 -- has just been added to his Irish tour.

The following night will see him performing at Belfast's Waterfront Hall as he entertains fans with his sizeable repertoire of hits.

Meanwhile, tickets are still available to see the ultimate material girl Madonna in action at the Aviva Stadium on July 24.

The queen of pop will be bringing her MDNA world tour to these shores after entertaining fans all over Europe with her age-defying moves and chart-topping songs.
