Stars shine at Beckett play launch

A HOST of well-known faces from the worlds of TV and film turned out for the launch of the highly acclaimed Krapp's Last Tape in the Gate Theatre last night.

Leading the way was RTE broadcasting legend Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen Watkins and directors Wayne Jordan and Patrick Mason.

Out in force was the family of John Hurt (left), who plays the lead role in the Samuel Beckett classic.

Directed by Michael Colgan, the Gate production received rave reviews across the United States and will run for 10 days.

Also in attendance were theatre director Tom Creed and actors Ingrid Craigie, Cathy Belton and Fiona Bell.
