Rugby hero Geordan and pals honoured at school fundraiser

RUGBY star Geordan Murphy was honoured with a glamour-filled bash over the weekend.

Tribute was paid to the Leicester captain at a black-tie event held in the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, Co Kildare, and was hosted by fellow sports legend, Niall Quinn.

But Geordan wasn't the only former pupil of the Dominican College to be honoured, with profits from the event going towards the school.

The night also marked the achievements of top horse trainer Dermot Weld, Eurovision-winning songwriter Brendan Graham and Olympic equestrian star Helen Kearney.

A presentation of the awards was held before RTE star Gavin Duffy took to the podium to make a speech.

Attendees included Niall Quinn's wife Gillian Quinn and her sister Valerie Roe, who was there with Denis Flannelly as well as the Quinn's model daughter Aisling.

Graham Beere and his wife Margaret Beere and former Junior Minister Aine Brady also attended.
