Pregnancy Pilates keeps me fit, says Karen as she prepares for new arrival

TV presenter Karen Koster has revealed how she's keeping herself fit with some pregnancy Pilates.

The yummy mummy-to-be (34) is sporting a very neat bump on TV3 showbiz show Xpose, despite being nearly seven months pregnant.

She has ditched her usual training regime as she embraces looming motherhood but did try her first Pregnancy Pilates class at the weekend.

"It was a Reformer Pilates class with all the machines, that I've never done before. I thought the first class we'd be taking it fairly handy and doing nothing too vigorous," she said.

"But no, she really put me through my paces and it felt like I was using all these muscles that hadn't been used in ages. I have to say, I felt great afterwards. I hadn't been sleeping that well and that night, I slept like a baby so I'll give it another go."

She added how she has also been walking the dogs as a regular form of exercise but isn't being too hard on herself at all.

And she admits that as the co-anchor of a live show, it can be hard to find maternity clothes that are flattering.

She has been mainly buying her outfits from the UK.

Due her first baby with her businessman hubby John McGuire this December, she intends working right up until the end of November, given how well she's felt throughout her pregnancy.

"It's my dad's 75th birthday and we're all going down to Wexford to celebrate so I'll probably make that my last week on the show," she continued.

She's also lucky in that she has avoided any unusual pregnancy cravings and has been drawn towards fresh fruit like kiwis and melons.

"I haven't done anything mad like eating two bars of chocolate in a row or anything but if I feel like having something, I'll have it," she added.

Laid-back Karen said she "hasn't a thing done" when it comes to getting ready for her new arrival.

"I bought a few babygros but that's about it. My sister has three kids so I'll be getting most of the stuff from her,"

The programme recently underwent a massive re-vamp, with the addition of new presenter Peter O'Riordain, who formerly worked in TMZ.

Producers have also extended the slot to make it an hour-long and transmit the programme live, which Karen said she "loves".

"It's going really well. Myself and Peter are having a great time, we have a real laugh between the breaks. It feels like I'm going off just when the show is really good fun," she ended.
