Pal Fassbender wants me to get into acting - Dylan McGrath McGrath

MOVIE stars Liam Cunningham and Michael Fassbender are two of his closest friends, but Dylan McGrath has insisted that despite their encouragement he will never try his hand at acting.

The 36-year-old Belfast native spends plenty of time hanging out with Game of Thrones rogue Liam and Academy Award-nominee Michael (inset) whenever they're in Dublin, but the Masterchef judge told the Herald that he's not looking to follow in their footsteps anytime soon.

"We often joke about me acting, they're good lads, but I'd only ever act if it was a complete flip on what I am, the opposite of what people expect," chef Dylan said.

"They're the actors, I'm just a cook and I think I'll be sticking to that."

The Fade Street Social and Rustic Stone owner said he's barely feels comfortable with the celebrity aspect that comes alongside appearing on television, but puts up with it as it helps promote his restaurants.

"It's something we do as part of business and it's important people know, as someone who runs a restaurant, what sort of standard you expect from your own team," he said.

"I'd shy away from fame sometimes, but I do realise it's part of business - and important. It's not really my thing though to be honest."

Dylan also insisted he would consider filming another instalment of RTE's Masterchef with Nick Munier.

"You don't know how long these things will last but I see they're still making the show, so as long as it stays fresh I'm quite happy to do it. If they asked me I would."

Dylan turned out this week to help launch The Secret Ingredient, a fundraising cookbook developed by the staff of St James's Hospital, in Dublin.

The initiative aims to generate funds for four dedicated family rooms throughout the hospital and a garden space for long-term patients and a palliative care
