Oh Lordi, look who Tubridy's got coming up next...

EUROVISION winners Lordi will make a special appearance on the Late Late Show Eurosong special next week.

The Herald can reveal that the masked heavy metal band, who won the competition six years ago, will be on hand to give their opinion on this year's Irish hopefuls.

"It's a big coup for the Late Late, Lordi are one of the biggest bands to come out of the Eurovision song contest so any advice they can give to the Irish entry will be very valuable," a source told the Herald.

"The last time they played in Ireland was in 2009 and since then, they've been touring all over continental Europe.

"They're extremely popular in their native Scandinavia because the whole region is regarded as a heavy metal stronghold.

"It will be interesting to see if they show any preference for one of the five Irish acts who will be competing to represent the country at the Eurovision semi-final and hopefully, at the live final too.

"Their style is completely different to [that of the Irish potential entries] but they love wearing extravagant outfits on stage so they may favour Jedward, who always go all out when they perform."

The Finnish group was extremely popular with the Irish when it appeared on the contest, garnering 10 points for Hard Rock Hallelujah, from viewers in the Republic.

That year, Brian Kennedy, who is currently a coach on The Voice of Ireland, came in 10th place

Meanwhile, in anticipation of next week's Eurosong special, tomorrow's Late Late Show will also feature guests from the music industry.

Ex-Oasis star Noel Gallagher will be interviewed by Ryan Tubridy, while Snow Patrol and Rodrigo y Gabriela will perform on the show.

Reunited members of pop band Six will also be among the guests.
