Ed Sheeran 'just wants to sit at home and watch movies' when he escapes to Africa
Ed Sheeran’s cousin Jethro Sheeran claims The A Team singer “just wants to sit at home and watch movies” during his extended stay in Ghana.
Ed revealed earlier this month that he’ll be taking some much needed time off starting 1 January 2016 and the star’s relative Jethro noted he’ll be spending a lot of his break in West Africa.
“I think he just wants to sit at home and watch movies,” Jethro told UK newspaper The Mirror of Ed’s plans for his forthcoming African adventure. “He likes the music that has come out of Ghana, he knows that there is going to be no pressure. He just doesn’t want to be recognised.”
Since the release of his critically acclaimed 2011 album +, Ed has seen his star rise astronomically.
The musician has certainly been celebrating his successes, as Ed was reportedly propped up by friends after engaging in drunken antics all night at the Brit Awards in Februar.
Jethro admits he has certainly been concerned over his cousin’s welfare at times.
“I was worried about him, I think he had had too much to drink,” Jethro said of Ed’s Brit Awards inebriation. “He was a bit embarrassed about it but what are you going to do?
“Ed is very open about drugs. He has said how he fell in love with a bean bag because he was on MDMA.
“That is what Blood Stream is about, chemicals in his bloodstream.”
Jethro claims Ed is also experiencing a major transformation in his love life after becoming a celebrity.
Ed confirmed his split from girlfriend Athina Andrelos in March and Jethro notes his cousin was heartbroken over the breakup.
“At the BRIT awards, after that he went away and that is when his relationship broke down,” Jethro explained.
“It was tough for him when he split up with her, he was quite into her, he took her to Ireland and met my grandma.
“Now he is getting used to the fact that everyone wants to get with Ed Sheeran, he is a bit confused because if he was a taxi driver I don’t think that would happen.
“I think they fall in love with his voice.”
