Darragh has pluck with his proposals

FOLK band Hermitage Green hit headlines earlier this year when banjo player Darragh Griffin proposed to girlfriend Jessika Zebo in the middle of a concert at Dublin's Olympia Theatre.

But frontman and ex Munster rugby player Barry Murphy (below) says the smooth talking (and playing) banjo player is becoming a bit of a one-trick pony.

"He has a habit of doing that," Barry joked to the Diary. "We're telling him to tone it down. He's proposing at every other gig, it's his thing now," he laughed.

The five-piece band have been dubbed Ireland's answer to Mumford & Sons and are a hit with the Irish rugby squad. Rob and Dave Kearney can't get enough of their catchy tunes.

The boys recorded their latest album Hermitage Green – Live at Whelan's within the hallowed walls of the pub to soak up some of the atmosphere and screams from their adoring fans.

"It's our debut album and we're really excited about it. We were waiting around for a record label to approach us but after a while thought let's do it ourselves," he laughed.

"We're known for our live shows and wanted to capture the energy and atmosphere. But there are no proposals on this one." Shame.
