Bono might still be recovering from his biking accident but he has signed on to write the music for Willie Nelson’s new movie.

Always On My Mind singer Nelson is to star in a new fantasy-adventure called Waiting for the Miracle to Come and Bono is set to serve as executive producer and also write songs for the soundtrack.

The movie tells the story of a young girl played by Sophie Lowe who finds a letter from her late father with directions to a goldmine in the California desert.

There she meets two retired vaudeville stars, played by Nelson and Charlotte Rampling, with a story to tell.

It is thought that the film will be shot on Nelson’s Hill Country ranch in Texas, with Australian filmmaker Lian Lunson writing and directing and production is set to begin in March.

Lunson previously worked with Nelson on the documentary Willie Nelson: Down Home and interviewed Bono for her documentary Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man.

Bono worked with Nelson when he wrote a song for him in 1989 – Slow Dancing – which is on the 2011 Duals album.

Meanwhile, Bono recently cancelled all public appearances until the latter half of this year in order to recover from his biking accident which happened in November.

His injuries were worse than originally thought and the singer had to undergo five hours of surgery and had three plates put in.

He also said he may not be able to play guitar again.

“It is not clear,” he said last month.
