Mother-to-be Sonya lines up role back home
SHE'S counting down the days until becoming a mum for the first time but actress Sonya Macari still has every intention of continuing in the business after welcoming her bundle of joy in August.
The half-Italian LA-based beauty revealed to the Diary that while she's taking several months away from the film set to focus on parenthood when her little addition arrives, she has two movie roles lined up.
The wife of musician Colin Devlin (inset) will be back in front of the cameras by the end of the year to shoot the productions - one of which will see her fly home to Irish shores.
Stepping into a different kind of role that she's used to, dark-haired Sonya will portray detective Kerry Ryan in a black humour thriller.
"It's called The Good Sinner, and it's a creation of Kerry filmmaker Maurice O'Carroll," Sonya said.
"It sounds heavy but funny, and I loved the script so I'm really looking forward to it.
"Colin and I will be back in Dublin for two months anyway to christen the baby with our family and friends so that's when I'll film my scenes," she added.
Sonya will also lean on her European roots when she joins the cast of Sunday Sauce.
"I'm playing up my Italian side with that one; it's about all the love and dysfunction that goes along with being a big Italian family and it reminds me of Moonstruck," she said.
Although she's got work coming up, Sonya insisted she's going to be "very selective" about what she takes on once her son or daughter is in the picture.
"Being a mum will be my first priority - I won't give up acting because I love it, but things will be more about balance."
