Model week for Cristiona ... first a marriage proposal then a role in sci-fi movie

It's been a good week for model and actress Cristiona Aston.

The sultry model, who is on Andrea Roche's books, was delighted when her long-term partner David Morrisroe got down on bended knee and popped the question.

Cristiona and her other half have been dating for five years and live together in London.

While the pair had discussed getting hitched several times, Cristiona says the proposal took her completely by surprise.

"I was delighted and shocked," she said. "It was really romantic and lovely."

David flew back to Ireland to pick out Cristiona's sparkling engagement ring from Voltaire Diamonds.

"I was really impressed because it is beautiful," she said.

The pair will say their 'I Dos' later this year but have yet to set a date.

Picking a venue shouldn't be took tricky - Cristiona's sister Fionnuala Aston-Ardee, who is married to Lord Anthony Ardee, lives in the majestic surroundings of Kilruddery House.

"We might get married there," Cristiona said.

"My younger brother is having his wedding in Kilruddery later this year and my sister got married there last year.

"So it would be the third family wedding in the grounds within two years."

Wedding plans aside, Cristiona is busying working on exciting acting roles.

She is the star of upcoming sci-fi movie Stargirl.

The film tells the story of a girl with a star-shaped head who falls to earth during a dramatic meteor shower and befriends a loveable Hertfordshire farmer called Stan.

"It's a very simple story," Cristiona said. "It's almost childlike but it's also happy and emotional".

She had to spend several hours in make up prior to filming to ensure her cranium looks sufficiently star like. "I had to get my head cast and I wear a blue costume," she said.

The chic actress is also working on a TV pilot titled Hangin' which focuses on the last group of hang men and women working in the UK in the 1950s.

The production team will pitch it to Channel 4 once it has been shot.

"It's set in the South West of England and I play quite a warped hang woman," she giggles.

Despite being based in the UK, Cristiona loves returning home.

"I have a large family of nine so it's always great to come back. I celebrated my engagement in London this week but will have to have a proper party next time I am home."
