Actress Aoibhinn McGinnity has admitted that she wanted to meet a real gangland wife when filming Love/Hate.
Aoibhinn (28) played Nidge's moll since the beginning of the series and revealed that she was disappointed she didn't get to meet someone who lived the life she was trying to portray.
"I always wanted to meet a real-life gangland wife, but it just didn't happen," she said.
"And after a while I just had to trust myself and not over-think it. With Love/Hate, the dialogue does the work for you. You don't have to do much homework when the script is that good," she added.
The brunette also said that she doesn't over-prepare when it comes to acting roles.
"I was told I work instinctively. You can learn your lines inside out, but you really have to feel like her.
"It's important to plan, but you have to allow the situations or argument to develop, so it's fresh and organic and that you're not this robot actor."
And Aoibhinn is hoping to take that into her next role as Jovie in Elf the Musical at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre this Christmas.
Jovie was originally played by actress Zooey Deschanel in the 2003 comedy ELF staring Will Ferrell.
McGinnity has described the role as a "dream come true".
"Musical theatre has been a huge passion of mine from a young age and I'm really looking forward to performing on The Bord Gais Energy Theatre stage," she said.
"The fact that the show is coming from Broadway direct to Dublin is just phenomenal.
"I can't wait to spend Christmas on their stage," she added.
