Grey film will be tamer than books - Jamie

ACTOR Jamie Dornan has warned fans that the movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey will not be as steamy as the best-selling books.

The dad of one stars as bondage-loving billionaire businessman Christian Grey in the blockbuster and admitted that they shot a tamer version of the story for the big screen.

Co Down man Jamie (32), who next February will be watched by millions when the flick is released worldwide, said he would not have agreed to do the project if it was too racy.

"In some ways it'll break a few boundaries, but at the same time they want to put bums on seats," he said.

"They can't alienate an audience. You know it has to be watchable - it can't be hardcore. I wouldn't have signed up to it if it was."

Jamie has landed a string of leading roles since agreeing to take on 50 Shades. His latest part sees him back in a psychological thriller.

The IFTA winner has been confirmed for The 9th Life of Louis Drax, based on Liz Jensen's hit novel of the same name.

Production on the film, a British-Canadian project, will begin in Vancouver next month.

He has also starring in the second season of RTE-BBC psychological hit The Fall with Gillian Anderson and has lined-up the main part in The Siege of Jadotville.

On top of that, he has bagged a part in Adam Jones, a new blockbuster about a Michelin-starred chef.

He will appear opposite Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, who portrays the protagonist, as well as fellow Irish actor Sam Keeley and Sienna Miller.
