'Working with Soderbergh on The Knick was like being in bootcamp' - Eve Hewson
She's in hit TV drama The Knick with Clive Owen but Eve Hewson has admitted that working with director Steven Soderbergh was like being at bootcamp.
Eve has said that it was a dream to work with the top director despite the hard work.
"It was a huge learning experience for me," she said.
"Working with Steven felt like boot camp - he doesn't do a lot of takes."
"We don't really rehearse, (so) you go in there and you're thrown into the deep end; you sink or swim," she continued.
"It was incredible - I never thought I'd work with Steven early on in my career."
Despite the hard work Hewson said she was amazed at how calm Soderbergh was during filming.
"His team is a very well-oiled machine - they get things done efficiently, very smoothly," she said.
The Knick has recently be renewed for a second series which attracted 1.7m viewers for its first episode.
The 23-year-old plays a naive nurse from West Virginia named Lucy Elkins assisting a maverick surgeon in the medical series set in early part of the 20th century.
The series is described as a cross between Grey's Anatomy and Boardwalk Empire and is centred on a pioneering doctor, played by Clive Owen working in the Knickerbocker Hospital in downtown New York.
The 10-part series will be aired here on Sky Atlantic before Christmas.
Hewson has seen her star rise since appearing in This Must be the Place opposite Sean Penn in 2008 but she insists that directors don't hire her just because she's Bono's daughter.
"What's great about Hollywood is that it is so cut-throat, and it really f**king doesn't matter who you are.
"If you're not right for the part, you're not right the part," she said.
"That's what I love about Steven (Soderbergh), too. He doesn't give a s**t. At all."
But the Dubliner's star is definitely on the rise as she's landed a lead role opposite Hollywood stalwart Tom Hanks.
Eve is currently filming the Steven Spielberg cold war drama - St James's Place - with Hanks in New York.
The film tells the story of an American lawyer (Hanks) who is recruited by the CIA during the Cold War to help rescue a pilot detained in the Soviet Union.
